The Huon Valley and the Tarhune Airwalk

The drive from New Norfolk to Huonville went through Hobart city - thank goodness for GPS! Once we came down into the Huon Valley, the pace slowed, the countryside was greener and much of our driving was alongside the Huon River through small settlements with many quaint buildings. We even managed to pick up some potatoes and apples at farm gates with honesty boxes.

I bought some raw honey at the Honey Pot (co-located with the Huon Valley visitor information centre). The centre also recommended a great small bakery in Ranelagh - the Summer Kitchen Bakery in Marguerite Street. The coffee was great and so too the sourdough!

From Huonville we drove to Geeveston and onto the Tarhune Airwalk. Walking out on the cantilevered section and feeling the sway is a small thrill and tall trees abound.

Don't know what is with Tassie and defacing signs:

We are camped at the Huonville Caravan Park tonight. It is situated on the river and very well maintained with great facilities. We have the red door ensuite:

PD was particularly enamoured of a family of ducks on the river:
