We spent some time in Cygnet buying handmade chocolates from Cygneture Chocolates, fruit and vegetables from the local green grocer (stocking delicious local strawberries) and coffee. The convent and Catholic Church were impressive:
The views to Bruny Island between Gardners Bay and Woodbridge were breathtaking. Sadly, the road was narrow and there was no place to safely park my motorhome to take photos so you'll have to take our word for it.
The trip up to Mt Wellington, whilst narrow, was realtively easy, however, we didn't have to pass any large motorhomes or tour busses. We quickly decided to shift from our first park at the summit when a gust of wind hit the motorhome broadside and I swear it rocked a couple of feet. The parking was much better with the wind at our backs, but opening and closing the motorhome door without the hinges busting was easier said than done. It was all worth it, with only a few clouds over Hobart adding interest to the view:
PD had a hard time trying to stay up right against the wind:
We had intended to eat lunch on the summit, but very quickly decided to eat at the botanical gardens in Hobart. Our view at lunch from the restaurant's balcony was lovely:
We didn't explore much of the gardens as it started to rain - our first for the trip.
Before leaving Hobart to go to our caravan park near the airport, we drove past Constitution Dock, Salamanca Place (we'll be there tomorrow for the markets) and up to Battery Point. I don't recommend you take a large vehicle up to Battery Point as it is too tight a fit getting round parked cars. I had to back out.
Joy o joy, there is a fresh seafood place less than 1k from our caravan park. Oysters and scallop pies for dinner tonight! Rest assured, as PD and I sit here wondering whether we should put on a jacket, we are thinking of all of you suffering heat waves in NSW and Qld.
