Nanny Goat Walking

We, naturally, took the long way from Hobart to Port Arthur. After stocking up on oysters at Barilla Bay (about 1k east of the airport on the highway) we headed to Richmond which is almost reminiscent of an English village. The Bakery is famous for its scallop pies and PD assures me that the pie was much nicer than the one we had on Friday night.

Images around Richmond, including the famous convict built bridge:

Our lunch stop was just just outside Dunalley at ..... wait for it ..... The Bangor Oyster Shed. PD recommends the smoked salmon and I couldn't go past the mixed oyster plate. Delicious food and great views - what more can you ask for?

There is a roadside lookout over Dunalley Bay not much further along the road to Port Arthur:

Make sure you take the detour off the Port Arthur Road to see the lookout over Pirates Bay:

And the natural rock formations, The Tessellated Pavement. Luckily we arrived at low tide:

Whilst driving further on the detour to the Blowhole, Tasman Arch and Devil's Kitchen, we came across a man taking his nanny goat for a walk to the beach:

The blowhole wasn't blowing today, but up the path past the blowhole has great views of the cliffs facing Fossil Bay:

Devil's Kitchen:

Our last stop before Port Arthur for the best views of the day was at Gene and Bruce's place at Koonya. The views from Mt Wellington to Dunalley Bay were magical. What a sight to wake up to each morning:

They have their own piece of paradise with bee hives, fruit trees, berries, turkeys, chickens and the occasional Tasmanian Devil.
